Received a Rental tax bill, but the property is not rented

If you received a rental tax bill but the property is not rented, please fill out the rental return form found here: Return on 6% Assessed Real Property or Rental Residential Property Form

The ”Tax Year” will be the year located at the top-right of the rental bill, and the 18-digit PIN (Property ID) can be found on the real property or house tax bill. If you do not have a copy of your real property tax bill, the PIN can be found using the account lookup online: Real Property Search

Location of Property ID (PIN) on real property tax bill:

* Note: Your rental bill is also assigned a PIN, but this is not the PIN you enter on the return form.

Once the form is submitted online, you will be emailed a copy of the completed return through email for your records. Please be aware that we work the rental returns in the order they are received, so the wait time for abatements will vary. Rental returns submitted during October to December will also have wait times impacted due to this being the annual billing season.

Is this your primary residence?

Filling out the Return on 6% Form above is step one. If the rental bill you received is referencing your primary home in Beaufort County, you may also need to contact the Beaufort County Assessor's office and apply (or reapply) for their 4% Legal Residence Application. Click here for their web page and contact information.
