Why did I receive a 120 Days tax bill for my Watercraft?

Have more questions? Submit a request

For watercrafts purchased from certified marina dealerships, sales tax is collected at the time of purchase. The dealer can also arrange for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to mail you boat registration and your watercraft documentation.

The bill you received is for the personal property taxes due on the watercraft. This is to cover the registration that was mailed to you in advance of this bill, which is separate from sales tax. Personal property taxes are to be paid within 120 days after the purchase of a watercraft from a dealership. For payment options, please contact the Beaufort County Treasurer's office at 843-341-8404 or visit the website myBeaufortCounty.com.
