The chart below can be used to determine if your vehicle would qualify for the High Mileage Exemption.
The deduction must be applied prior to payment and the tax due date. If this is the first time applying for the High Mileage Exemption, vehicle mileage will need to be verified by an Auditor's Office employee.

A. Cars and light trucks may appeal for high mileage.
B. Light trucks must have a gross vehicle weight of 11,000 pounds or less and a net vehicle weight of 9,000 pounds or less to qualify for the high mileage deduction.
C. All other vehicles will not qualify to appeal the assessment due to high mileage.

If your vehicle meets the criteria needed for the discount, please fill out a copy of the High Mileage Form. Our office will also need pictures of the qualifying vehicle’s odometer and South Carolina license plate (or the odometer and the VIN as seen on the vehicle if it has not yet been registered in SC).
The completed form to include pictures can then be submitted to one of the following:
